(Oakland) A Pottawattamie County woman was injured in a two vehicle accident Thursday afternoon near Oakland.
Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker says the injured woman is identified as 29-year-old Randi Riessen, of Avoca. She was a passenger in a car driven by 58-year-old Jacquelin Riessen who was traveling northbound on Highway 59 attempting to pass a 2005 Peterbilt semi, driven by 62-year-old James Reid, of Belleview, Florida. Danker says the semi had escort vehicles in the front and back of the rig.
Danker says the wide load crowded her vehicle to the west shoulder while attempting to pass. The car went out of control, came back onto the road and struck the trailer causing the vehicle to enter the ditch and overturn. Randi Riessen was thrown from the vehicle. She was transported to Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Jacquelin Riessen and James Reid escaped injury.
