(Corning) “Thanks to Teacher Tools 4 Tomorrow,” and a group of local and regional partners, eight southwest Iowa schools will be receiving free school supplies to help young people.
Beth Waddle, Executive Director of the Adams County Economic Development Corporation said, “Our friends at Iowa Area Development Group who partner with Southwest Iowa REC learned of excess school supplies that needed to be moved out of a warehouse in the Des Moines area. They thought of Corning and Adams County to see of we could make something happen.”
Seven other schools were notified of the eligibility to pick up the free supplies including; Prescott, Villisca, Lenox, Cumberland-Anita-Massena, Orient-Macksburg, Bedford and Clearfield.
“We are grateful for the free supplies,” said Willie Stone, superintendent of Corning and Villisca schools. “Many of our families are struggling financially. Being able to ensure that every student has the resources and supplies to be successful is a great asset.”
Schools which had a 50% or higher percentage of eligible free or reduced lunch programs became the target. Eight schools in this region were deemed eligible.
