(Shelby) A Shelby County woman was killed Friday afternoon in a car/semi accident near the 37 mile marker on Interstate 80.
The Iowa State Patrol says, 22-year-old Nicolette M. Johnston, of Harlan died in the crash that occurred at around 1:00 p.m.
Authorities say Johnston was westbound when for some unknown reason her car went out of control and entered the median and rotated counter clockwise. The car came to rest in the eastbound lanes, where it was t-boned on the driver’s side by a 2007 Volvo semi, driven by 45-year-old Bret A. Roberts of Esterville, Iowa.
The semi ended up across the median in the westbound lanes. The 2006 Saturn, driven Nicolette M. Johnston, came to rest in the median.
The accident remains under investigation.
