(Anita) Icy roads are being blamed for a three-vehicle pile up on Intersate 80 Wednesday evening.
The Iowa State Patrol says 21-year-old Richard Franks Jr., of Knox, Indiana was transported by Medivac Ambulance to the Cass County Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered in the crash at around 6:15 p.m. near the 61-mile marker of westbound Interstate 80.
According to the report, 36-year-old Sara Anderson, of Ham Lake, Minnesota and Franks Jr, were westbound in the slow lane, when an eastbound semi driven by Ryan Keasey, of Hamburg, Iowa lost control due to the ice and wind. The 2002 Peterbilt crossed the median striking both vehicles.
The three vehicles came to rest in the westbound lanes blocking both lanes of traffic.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Medivac Ambulance.
