(ATLANTIC) Contract negotiations have begun with the certified staff at the Atlantic School District.
Atlantic Superintendent Dr. Michael Amstein told the School Board Tuesday night that a proposal was put forth on Monday.
“Mary Beth [Business Manager] and I haven’t had a chance to cost it out but at this point it looks like 6.9, and we don’t know if that is 6.9 just on the salary schedule, I kind of believe that it is and some of the other items that they had included in there haven’t been costed out yet so once Mary Beth and I do that we’ll try to get that information and then go from there,” explained Amstein.
Amstein said they also met with the support staff, but no numbers have been laid out yet based on their proposal and it will be hard to do anything until the insurance numbers are in. He said it looks like for FY13 it’s going to be 2% allowable growth and for a district the size of Atlantic that equates to about $140,000 in new money.
