(Greenfield) Two Nodaway Valley High School students have been arrested in connection with an incident related to the Nodaway Valley wrestling team.
According to a press release from Greenfield Police, 18-year-old Mikel Fieck and a 17-year-old juvenile, both from Greenfield, have been charged with 2nd degree Sexual Abuse.
Nodaway Valley Superintendent of Schools Casey Berlau couldn't provide any specific details because of student confidentiality.
“The day that we were made aware of a situation within our wrestling team we immediately took action by investigation and we have a good handle on what went on,” stated Berlau. “We are in the process of handling the disciplinary actions as the result of our investigation.”
Feick was processed into the Adair County Jail and later released on $25,000 bond. The 17-year-old juvenile was being held in a juvenile detention facility in Eldora.
According to Iowa Code Section 709.3, a person commits sexual abuse in the second degree when the person commits sexual abuse under any of the following circumstances:
During the commission of sexual abuse the person displays in a threatening manner a dangerous weapon, or uses or threatens to use force creating a substantial risk of death or serious injury to any person.
The other person is under the age of twelve.
The person is aided or abetted by one or more persons and the sex act is committed by force or against the will of the other person against whom the sex act is committed.
Sexual abuse in the second degree is a class "B" felony.
