(ADAIR) An open house for the new Adair County Public Safety Center will be held this Saturday.
Adair County Sheriff Brad Newton said the new center has been a five year process. He said they passed a bond issue and the tax payers voted to build a new facility which will house the Sheriff’s Administrative offices, the Greenfield Police Department, E911 dispatch and a new jail.
“We’ll all be in one building, it will be so much more convenient for us and the public,” said Newton. “Right now we are housed in an old ‘house’, you could say, we just converted all the rooms in the house to our offices. We have no storage, no file space and we’re just very cramped right now. Once we get over there everything will be modern and it will just be a whole lot better deal for everybody.”
The open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sheriff Newton said they are not moved into the building yet, but they invite the public to tour the building and enjoy some refreshments.
