(Atlantic) It was spring in January in southwest Iowa on Thursday and the mercury soared to a new record high at least in Atlantic yesterday.
Brad Small Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines confirmed this morning that the old record of 61-degrees set back in 1956, is no longer. The high for Atlantic on Thursday afternoon reached 63-degrees.
Audubon’s high yesterday was 63-degrees which tied the 52-year old record. The high temperature in Harlan Thursday was 61-degrees, and Red Oak reached a high of 64.
The forecast is for cooler weather but unseasonably warm with highs across the area reaching the low 50’s.
