(HARLAN) A Harlan man was injured in a head-on collision in Shelby County this morning.
The Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Shawn Strong was transported to Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan by Medivac Ambulance and then flown to Creighton Medical Center in Omaha by Life Net following the accident that occurred just before 8 a.m.
According to the report, Shawn Strong was driving a 2002 Chevy Malibu westbound on Highway 44 east of Harlan and crossed the center line into the path of a 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup, driven by 50-year-old Kevin Fries of Harlan. The vehicles struck nearly head-on. Fries’ vehicle came to rest in the north ditch and Strong’s vehicle came to rest on the highway. Both vehicles are considered a total loss. Fries was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
