(Lenox) A Missouri man was arrested near Cheese’s Grocery Store in Lenox this morning on a charge of animal cruelty. Lenox Police Chief Jon Huggins says 30-year-old Clint Auger was taken into custody this morning following an investigation into the incident that allegedly occurred Tuesday night.
“A complaint was made earlier today by a family in town that had been allowing Auger to stay with them for a couple of days as a guest,” stated Huggins. “For reasons unknown Auger had allegedly stabbed the families dog and apparently beat with a baseball bat.”
Huggins says the dog had to undergo surgery to repairs wounds that were consistent with the victims report.
Auger faces charges of animal cruelty, an aggravated misdemeanor, because of the serious injuries to the dog. Auger was being held in the Taylor County Jail at the time of this release, awaiting an appearance in front of a magistrate.
