(Atlantic) GOP Presidential hopeful Ron Paul met a packed house at the Cass County Community Center in Atlantic Thursday afternoon. Paul told the crowd that he plans to cut 1-trillion dollars from the budget in the first year reduce government and give the American people their freedom back.
“We have more laws passed on us on how we can use our land, our money, and even the personal invasion of our privacy today.” stated Paul. “The government is taking away the privacy of the internet, the protection you have of the fourth amendment and look at your papers, your records and your homes without a search warrant, and they come in and do that.”
Paul says those are the consequences of over exuberant politicians who passed laws after 911 and said we had to have the Patriot Act.
“The Patriot Act takes away your liberties, and some people argue that we wouldn’t be safe if you take away our liberties,” says Paul, “So let me tell ya, you don’t have to give up your liberties to be safe. If you give up your liberties you are not going to be safe and you are not going to have your liberties. That is why we have we have to get a handle on this government and say the purpose of the government is to protect our liberties and not to overstep their bounds and do things that they are not authorized to do.”
Ron Paul also says if he is elected to the white house he will pull all U.S. troops out of the 130 different countries they currently occupy.
Paul has a slight lead over his fellow candidates in the latest poll, at 24-percent ahead of Mitt Romney’s 20-percent…according to a new public policy polling survey.
