(Shenandoah) A man living and working in Shenandoah since 2005 was arrested for failure to register as a sex offender in Shenandoah Friday.
The Page County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a report of a sex offender violation in Shenandoah. It was determined that Rubio Aviles AKA Guadalupe Berlanga was living and working in Shenandoah since 2005, and had failed to register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Rubio had charges in Oregon with an outstanding warrant for failing to register there also. He was convicted in 2001 in Oregon for sex related charges.
Deputies were heading to the suspects home when his vehicle was spotted leaving the residence. An Officer then made a traffic stop on he vehicle near the residence of north Elm and west Lowell Streets.
Rubio Aviles, was charged with failing to comply with the sex offender registry requirements’, and later posted bond in the amount of $2,000.00. Prior to his release Immigration and Customs Enforcement was contacted and placed a hold on Aviles. He is currently in the Page County Jail awaiting further investigation by the ICE.
