(Atlantic) The Cass County Democratic Party has released information in regards to the 2012 Cass Democratic Party Caucuses. The caucuses will be held at four locations around the county beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3. Doors will open at 6:30 PM at each site in order that Democrats can register and be in place by the 7 PM starting time.
"You must be in line or already signed in by 7 PM", Cass County Democratic Party Chair Sherry Toelle stated. "We encourage voters to arrive early to register. We also want people to know that they can register to vote or that they can change their party affiliation that evening prior to the caucus in order to participate in the caucus process."
During the caucus, voters will discuss and adopt proposed resolutions to the county platform, elect delegates and alternates to the County Convention, and elect Precinct Committee Persons to the County’s Central Committee.
Ms. Toelle went on to say, "This is the meeting where you are able to voice your opinions and express what you want the Democrats to set as goals for the next four years. This is democracy at its most basic level."
All five Atlantic wards as well as Marne and Benton, Brighton, Grove, Pymosa, and Washington Townships will caucus at the Iowa Western Community College in Atlantic. Voters from Lewis, Griswold, and Bear Grove, Cass, Edna, Noble and Pleasant Townships will hold their caucus at the Lewis Elementary School.
