(Atlantic) After months of speculation on the future of the Cass County Memorial Hospital’s Behavioral Health Unit, the board of trustees held a meeting this morning.
It was board member John Molgaard who made the motion at this morning’s meeting.
"I say that we have a contract with Cannon Moss Brygger, they are the architects and engineers on the project today and they are to provide drawings and bid documents for the remodeling of the intensive care unit to accomodate the behavioral health unit."
The remodeling would downsize the Behavioral Health Unit to a four bed facility. The motion passed unanimously.
According to the press release, if the bids are within budget projections, remodeling would being in late 2012 after the Special Care Unit relocates to the new hospital addition scheduled to open in August 2012.
The total effect of providing BHU services over the past three fiscal years have been losses of $393,881 in FY 2009, $505,582 in FY 2010, and $344,159 in FY 2011.
