(Atlantic) The Chambers annual "Angels of Christmas" winners were announced during the Holiday Concert at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic Saturday night.
"Stifel Nicholaus and Company sponsors the "Angel of Christmas" each year and this year the committee selected Gene and Carol Freeze and Hal and Judy Stevenson," stated Atlantic Executive Chamber Director Megan Roberts. "We were able to surprise them on Saturday night, and it was kind of fun because they were both couples."
Megan Roberts says Gene and Carol Freeze are both heavily involved in the area and their church. "They show support and leadership for the "Rainbow Girls Organization," and some of the people who nominated them said no one else is more deserving because of all they do in the community."
Roberts says Hal and Judy Stevenson, the second set of angels have also been involved in the community for many years. "They have been involved in the schools and attend many Trojan and Trojann sporting events and take tickets for the school and the booster club. The people that nominated them say they are a true blessing to the community because of all the volunteer hours they give back."
Roberts says the chamber accepts nominations for the "Angels of Christmas" throughout the months of November and December. Then a special promotions and events committee selects the recipients.
"Every year we get many, many nominations and the committee has a really tough job. It is really fun to announce the winners at the Holiday Conert each year, and it is always a surprise to them and that makes it even better," stated Roberts.
Congratulations to Gene and Carol Freeze and Hal and Judy Stevenson.
