(ATLANTIC) The Cass County Library Association gave their annual report to the Cass County Board of Supervisors this morning.
One project that the Library Association currently has going on is a County Read Project and the book that is featured is called “Driving to Clarinda” by Roseanne Bachman, who grew up in Atlantic. Bachman will be at the Atlantic Library in March and then Griswold and Lewis will have a joint event in May. Supervisor Chuck Rieken said his wife read the book and they found it very intriguing.
“We found it a very interesting book to read and the situation with the teacher being in the Atlantic School system and the problems with mental illness and how it affects people’s lives and looking at that back then and how she perceived that and today mental illness is much more accepted and treated than it was back then, so we’ve made great strides in that,” said Rieken.
Susie Campbell, Director of the Lewis Library, gave an update on the new Library currently under construction.
“I got invited in the inside yesterday, they’ve got it all enclosed so they will be able to work all winter long and the estimated finish date is April 30th, and I think they will have it done,” said Campbell.
And Carolyn Hartman, Director of the Cumberland Library, said their Children’s Room at the Library is now finished.
