(COUNCIL BLUFFS) A California man was arrested following a drug bust on Interstate 80 in Pottawattamie County.
Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker said just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, Deputy Miller observed an eastbound 2005 Dodge Durango at the 23 mile marker that failed to signal a lane change.
“He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. After speaking with the driver he thought that the driver might be involved in criminal activity, basically trafficking drugs,” said Danker. “He requested permission to search the vehicle, which he was given, so he had his patrol dog Francisco do an exterior sniff of the vehicle. The dog did indicate on the vehicle that there was a possible presence of a controlled substance. When Deputy Miller searched the vehicle, he located numerous amounts of vacuum sealed bags of marijuana that were located on a roof topper on top of the Durango. It was around 53 pounds (of marijuana).”
Sheriff Danker said 28-year-old Robert Jones of Oakdale, California was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Tax Stamp Violation and Prohibited Acts. Jones was booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail.
