(DES MOINES) Record High temperatures were observed Thanksgiving Day.
The National Weather Service says at 3:19 p.m. the temperature at Omaha Eppley reached 73 degrees. This not only shattered the previous record high for November 24th for the Omaha area, it was also the warmest so late in the season. The old record for November 24th was 65 set in 1990 and the previous warmest temperature so late in the season was 72 degrees recorded on November 29, 1998, November 25, 1960 and December 6, 1939.
The 73 high was also the warmest Thanksgiving Day on record.
