(Greenfield) The Adair County Conservation Office is making an effort to improve Orient Lake.
This morning Adair Conservation Director Kevin Blazek will be asking the Adair County Board of Supervisors for a letter of support for a grant application for a house/shower and safe room project. Blazek says it is a much needed facility.
"Our old pit latrine is in poor shape, the foundation is settling and the walls are cracking," explained Blazek. "It will mean better sanitary facilities for campers which hopefully means longer stays and a safe room for severe weather."
Blazek says the past few years this has been a very popular campground. "This past summer weekend campsites filled up by Wednesday or Thursday night, and holiday's were reserved a week or two ahead of time.
Blazek says he is in currently in the process of applying for a grant. The Adair County Supervisor meeting started at 9:00 a.m. this morning. The board will go into closed session on a litigation matter at 10:15 a.m.
