(Des Moines) A narrow band of snow blanketed an area from Taylor to Decatur and north to Polk and Dallas Counties overnight. Jim Lee, with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says the heavy wet snow knocked downed trees causing power outages. The heaviest of amount of snow was reported in Winterset.
"We had reports within that band of upwards of 4-6 inches of snow in some areas. The highest amount was 6.4 inches reported in Winterset and that was while snow was still falling," stated Lee.
Winterset and Lenox school officials have delayed classes for two hours this morning and there is no morning practices in Lenox..
