(JEFFERSON) One person was killed; another was injured following an accident during a pursuit in Greene County Tuesday night.
The Iowa State Patrol says 18-year-old Jonathan Dalton Bindel of Jefferson was killed and 20-year-old Miranda Sue Parris of Jefferson, a passenger in Bindel’s vehicle, was transported to the Greene County Medical Center with injuries.
According to the report, Bindel was driving a 2006 Ford Taurus west on Highway 30 being pursued by the Iowa State Patrol. Bindel was driving very erratically and at a high rate of speed. 22-year-old Heath Aaron Enns was driving a 2008 Ford F250 pickup north on Grimmel Street and then turned east onto Highway 30 to assist with the pursuit. Bindel drove into the eastbound lane of Highway 30 and Enns attempted to avoid a collision by driving onto the shoulder. Bindel struck Enn’s vehicle, causing Enn’s vehicle to spin around and into the south ditch where it rolled once and came to rest on its wheel. Bindel’s vehicle came to rest in the north ditch.
