(ESSEX) The Page County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to be extremely cautious when traveling the roads, especially gravel and dirt roads, due to the dusty conditions and slow and sometimes oversized vehicles during harvest. Sheriff Lyle Palmer says the dust from the roads and harvest equipment can make it extremely hard to see traffic in any direction during these times, especially during dusk and at night.
This reminder follows an accident in Page County when a 2011 Chevy Suburban, driven by 49-year-old Kimberly Walker of Essex, drove around a curve on 150th Street and started to go east, down the hill where there was a large amount of dust. Walker saw the back of a tractor wagon and was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the grain wagon. 66-year-old Harve Johnson of Essex, the driver of the tractor, did not feel the impact, or realize the damage done to the wagon and continued on to Essex. Walker and her two grandsons were not injured in the accident.
