(COUNCIL BLUFFS) Six people were injured in a rollover accident in Pottawattamie County Wednesday.
The Iowa State Patrol says a 1996 Ford Explorer; driven by 26-year-old Lucia Barrera of Omaha, was northbound on I-29 at the 59 mile marker when the vehicle blew a rear passenger tire. Barrera lost control and the vehicle rolled multiple times, coming to rest in the southbound lanes. Three people were ejected from the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Lucia Barrera, 34-year-old Octavio Brito, 32-year-old Catalina Barrera, 1-year-old Edgar Barrera, 9-year-old Stefanny Fernandez, and 9-year-old Bryan Brito, all of Omaha, were transported Creighton Medical Center. The patients were transported by Council Bluffs Medics, Crescent Rescue, and Lifenet. The Iowa Department of Transportation and the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
