(Sioux City) A Northwest Iowa mail processing center closed its doors over the weekend.
The final pieces of mail went through the Sioux City Processing Center Saturday morning. Operations are being transferred to a center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as part of the Postal Service plan to cut its staggering losses.
Iowa's congressional delegation and others tried to fight the closure, but to no avail.
Postal officials say the local mail delivery will not be affected by the move. However Sioux City will lose 70-jobs.
