(ATLANTIC) In addition to the possible closure of the Behavioral Health Unit at Cass County Memorial Hospital, Atlantic Community School District officials are faced with having to find new classroom space for the Link Center.
“In the Hospital’s current plans there won’t be any classroom space once construction is done there, so the Board’s challenge for the next year is to take a look at where we might be able to find additional classroom space somewhere here in Atlantic,” said Atlantic Superintendent Dr. Michael Amstein. “In our schools we don’t have that option, we don’t have any classroom space. And, actually we’re trying to take a look at adding additional classrooms to Washington Elementary because of the influx of kindergarten students that have come in this year and we expect for next year.”
The Link Center is a K-12 educational program operated by Atlantic Community Schools. Cass County Memorial Hospital leases space in the hospital to the school district for the program, and provides behavioral health staff to work with school staff.
