(COUNCIL BLUFFS) The city of Council Bluffs remains at Alert Level 1 due to the Missouri River flooding event.
According to the USGS, the Missouri River is at 33.98 feet, down .10 feet from yesterday. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers forecasts indicate the Missouri River will remain around 34.0 feet and begin to recede starting on August 20th.
The Council Bluffs Water Works will begin relocation of a water main so emergency sanitary sewer repairs can be initiated at South 23rd Street and 6th Avenue. Public Works is scheduled to bid sanitary sewer repair work on Friday.
The Council Bluffs Water Works indicates that they have not found contaminates in the City’s water supply from a reported natural gas liquid pipeline leak into the Missouri River in Monona County. The water supply for Council Bluffs is safe, the water treatment plant is operating normally, and drinking water is in compliance with all drinking water standards.
