CAM’s running game has been solid. The Cougars have rushed for 792-yards in just two games. Lane Spieker, averaging 16.1 yards per carry, leads the ground attack. The sophomore has rushed for 370-yards and scored four touchdowns, and Ethan Arp has rushed for 170-yards while averaging 13.1-per carry.

Woolum says it all starts upfront with the likes of Ben Tibken, Ethan Steffensen, Ethan Fast, Colby Rich, Jacob Holsten and fullback Cade Ticknor.

“Those guys do a great job of blocking and take pride in running the ball,” said Woolum. “We hang our hat on the running game. Lane Spieker is doing a great job and backup tailback Ethan Arp has shown some great speed, so we’re excited about our running backs as well.”

Coach Woolum admits Glidden-Ralston will be their toughest test up to this point. “When they’re on offense they’ll make us defend the entire width of the field,” said Woolum. “They run a lot of crossing routes and pick plays. They also have a couple of quarterbacks who can run. So it’s going to be a huge challenge for us.”

Nathan Brown is 14-27 passing for 232-yards and two touchdowns. Grant Borkowski is 6-15 for 137-yards passing and leads the rushing attack with 17-carries for 159-yards. Woolum says defensively they have to prepare for a different look on every play.

“It’s’ going to be a completely different play than the one before,” explained Woolum. “Hopefully we can pick up a few tendencies and give our guys an advantage.”

One point of emphasis this week for the Cougars is improving the passing game. Woolum expects opposing teams will start crowding the box to stop the run.

Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at CAM. Click below to listen to Coach Woolum’s complete interview.
