Big challenge awaits Harlan in Week 7

(Harlan) 4-2 Harlan will host undefeated and 3A #4 Lewis Central Friday night in an important Class 3A District 9 matchup. The game will air on KSOM.

Lewis Central’s unblemished start has included an average margin of victory at 35.8 points per game. Harlan coach Todd Bladt is especially impressed with the Titan defense which held Winterset to just 88 yards in a shutout last week. “They are a good team with a lot of size and speed. They have a lot of experience with ten guys back on defense and experience is hard to come by. They fly around to the ball and they don’t give up points very easy.”

The Cyclones lost to Glenwood last Friday night, 28-21. “Kind of a tough loss last week against Glenwood, but it is correctable things. We have guys playing hard but there are some young guys making young mistakes.”

Johnathan Monson is turning in a memorable year at quarterback. Last season Monson was the team’s leader in receptions, but this year he’s their leader in both passing and rushing yards.  Monson has thrown for 806 yards and rushed for 559 more. His total of 1,365 yards are 11th most among Class 3A quarterbacks.
