(Council Bluffs) The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office is holding their annual Shop with the Sheriff program this weekend.
Chief Deputy Rob Ambrose this is their 21st year of hosting Shop with the Sheriff.
“Over the years there has been approximately $100,000 of donated funds to fund the program and it’s a really good event for the Sheriff’s Office, a great way for us to interact with the community during the holiday season and a great time is always had by both the kids and the Sheriff’s Office employees,” stated Ambrose.
The event will take place Saturday from 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. at Target in Council Bluffs.
“This weekend we’ll have approximately 56 children to participate in the event. They’ll come in with their parents and then they’ll be assigned to a Sheriff’s Office employee and they’ll go out and shop, they’ll be able to purchase clothing and necessities and one toy. The families will also be provided with groceries for a Christmas dinner,” said Ambrose. “In addition to the 56 children, there will be 24 families of infants that are scheduled to pick up their gifts and food that same morning.”
Chief Deputy Ambrose said each year their Office Coordinator Linda Hensley and Assistant Office Coordinator Rikayla Redding work hard to get this event put together. He said their hard work and all of the donations they receive is what makes this program possible.
